Random nonsense and ramblings…

I am convinced that life is 10% what happens to me and 90% of how I react to it.

It’s the end of a fantabulous 4 day weekend. Such a good weekend. I gotta say, I was nervous about spending Thanksgiving in LA. Despite being here for 2 1/2 years I have gone home to see my family for every holiday. Well, except the 1st xmas here where we went to Hawaii, which was freakin awesome btw.

There was a really big group of us midwesterners and we all gathered at a friends house in Manhattan Beach. My friend, who’s house it was, cooked this big turkey and we all brought a little something. I contributed beer ha. I’m not into the whole cooking thing. But I gotta say, it was by far (sorry mom) the best Turkey day I have had in a very very long time.

Also, quite possibly the longest turkey day ha. We gorged, and had a few (or a dozen) bottles of wine and hung out then headed down to a little gathering at a beach house on the strand and then hit the bars up in Hermosa. As usual haha. I hadn’t been to the Shore yet though so at least now I can say I’ve been there. Shocking considering I’ve been to pretty much every other bar around here. The southbay is such a bubble. It’s like a big deal to break out of it even if for only one night. I gotta say though, I kind of had my heart set on going to Shellbacks. Love Shellback. But meh whatever. Night turned out pretty awesome.

Friday some good friends of mine had kind of a 2nd Turkey day and made this awesome ham and we had day 2 of gorging and drinking. And of course, the day wouldn’t have been complete without a prank on candi. Ha yeah… that was fun… later…

Actually, for the first time in kind of a long time, I had fun in Hermosa again. I mean the last time we went up to Manhattan Beach was pretty fun too but you know for the most part it’s all the same, weekend after weekend. You see the same people, you do the same thing, it just gets old.

One night we spent at Sharkeez, went up to Manhattan to Beaches, then back to Hermosa to Sangria, and then back to Sharkeez… that was fun. Especially the next morning when I woke up at 9:30 in a panic because I thought we had to go get my car. I had parked at these meters where you don’t have to plug them from 10 pm to 10 am. I got my roommate up and was like, omg gotta get my car, put shoes and stuff on, went to the front door and… OH my cars already here. hahaha That was funny. :)

That was the same night we stopped for taco’s (I do remember that) and I only got 2 but you know how when you’re drunk and hungry and things just taste better? Well, this taco tasted like a little piece of heaven with every bite. And then I realized my roommates dog had gotten the taco bell bag off the little chair it was on and was eating my 2nd taco. I’m still bitter about that. haha My dog would never do that.

Anyway. My first Thanksgiving staying in LA was rad. I feel fortunate to have the friends I have and I have so much to be thankful for.

Anyhoo. I guess. I need to pass out since tomorrow is the kickoff of another grueling week at work.

December is going to be CRAZY! There’s something going on literally every weekend and a few weekday nights, which are a tad more difficult for me to make thanks to my grueling professional life, but I’ll make it to one or two of them. :) I can’t believe 2009 is coming to a close. This year has been one of much growing and just change in general for me.  Another thing I’m thankful for, I’m in a much better emotional place than I was a year ago. MUCH better. I’m almost me again!! :) Yay!
